It’s more common than we think…
and it’s time to remove the shame.
Female athletes with revved-up metabolisms are burning so many calories, they are naturally hungry a lot of the time.
But today’s diet culture encourages under-eating and is in stark contrast to the reality of a young athlete’s caloric needs. This not only causes confusion but also the prevalence of disordered eating, with the common cycle of swinging between restriction of foods and binge eating.
Binge eating is categorized by recurrent episodes of eating large quantities of food in a short period of time and it’s often accompanied by a sense of loss of control over eating. A true diagnosis of binge eating is when this happens at least once a week, consecutively for three months.
Whether you’re in this range or have more occasional episodes, there is a way to work your way out of this pattern!
Watch as I unpack these steps in detail, with my own personal examples of when I suffered with an eating disorder.
Watch to learn about:
- Why eating enough throughout the day significantly lowers your likelihood of binge eating.
- Why you should not ignore your hunger signals, and eat when you’re hungryno matter how often, to prevent you from binge eating later.
- How paying attention to your food with mindful eating is a game changer for getting more satisfaction from your food. Watch for my example of how to do this.
- Why you should stop feeling guilty about eating certain foods and not consider something off limits.
- How to balance your plate and prep ahead with a bit of meal planning (see links below!)
- How practicing emotional regulation techniques can help control your pattern of turning to food for comfort. Watch for my examples.
