Welcome to Velo Deals. We sift through the retail landscape to bring you deals worth paying attention to. It might be a discount or it might just be a product so good you should grab it. Either way, if it’s worth your time, you’ll see it here. If you’d like to see the rest of the category, check all our Velo Deals coverage.
Amazon Prime Day is perhaps the most cynical holiday of all time. Despite that, if you were going to buy something anyway, you might as well save money. I went looking for products I know and love that are also on sale. I managed to find 11 cycling Prime Day deals on gear I’d tell you to buy any day of the year, now offered for less. There’s a bit of a tech lean to Prime Day, so you will see that represented here, but I’ve got some cycling nutrition in the mix as well.
Wahoo Bolt 3 – 36% off
Wahoo bike computers are all about simplicity. They are simple to use but don’t skimp on what you need. The last piece of the puzzle Wahoo has lacked was self-training off the bike computer, and now there’s access to Wahoo and Coros training dashboards. The ELEMNT Bolt 3 is likely going to be my best budget bike computer in future best bike computer buying guidesand at 36% off, nothing else competes.
SHOKZ OpenRun Pro 2 – 31% off
If you like to listen to music while you ride, the absolute best way to do it is with bone conduction headphones, and SHOKZ is the market leader. You can still hear what is happening around you, and on top of that, they can’t fall off, they’ve got tons of battery life, and if you want to stop your music, a single button press lets them disappear without having to stash them in a pocket.
Apple AirPods Pro 3 – 28% off
The one challenge with bone conduction headphones is that they aren’t the best choice off the bike, and the mic performance is universally bad. If you are looking for something that will stay secure on the bike (use just a single earbud) and works well in regular life, then Apple users want the AirPods Pro 3. I’ve also tested these on a trainer with a fan at my face, and for the Apple ecosystem, this is what you want.
Wahoo Fitness KICKR CORE 2 ZWIFT COG and Click – 27% off
Winter is coming and that means Zwift for a lot of people. Wahoo is far and away the market leader when it comes to indoor trainers but the brand has a bit of a challenge on it’s hands. The offerings have gotten so good over the years that it’s hard to recommend the more expensive options. Adding the Cog and Click makes it even easier to add your outdoor bike. I have this as the best smart trainer for Zwift in my best smart trainers buyers guide and that means the best overall in my mind. Grab a great deal now before winter really hits.
Skratch Labs Energy Chews – 25% off
One of the keys to eating enough on long rides is mixing textures and flavors. I generally drink my calories when riding, but I always carry chews so I can stop briefly and chew something.
Tailwind Nutrition Endurance Fuel – 20% off
Like I said, I tend to prefer to drink my calories on the bike, and this is my go-to choice. There’s a decent amount of sodium and a sweet, but not sickly, flavor profile. You can also choose an option with caffeine if that is your preference.
SaltStick Energy Chews Energy Gummies – 20% off
There’s science behind the idea that cramps come from a hyper-excited motor neuron repeatedly misfiring and locking the muscle up, rather than just dehydration or an electrolyte imbalance, and that it’s possible to make it stop with a shock to the vagus nerve. That shock comes from sour foods, so I also carry sour Salt Stick Energy Gummies with me. To be clear, Salt Stick doesn’t make this claim, and its gummies might not be sour enough. I don’t worry too much though because they still taste delicious and the cramp relief is just a potential bonus. You also get 130 mg of salt per packet, so that helps with cramps too.
Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 – 22% off
If you aren’t in the Apple ecosystem, then I find the choice for headphones that are perfect for on and off the bike to be a lot more wide open. I’ve gone back and forth with different companies who offer a little more this or that, but in the end, I keep coming back to the Pixel Buds Pro 2 because the mic is really good and there’s such easy access to Gemini. For Android users who want headphones that will work just as well off the bike as on, this is my choice.
Insta360 GO Ultra – 16% off
If you enjoy the videos that I put out for Velo, this is one of the two cameras that I use. Insta360 has a huge range of fantastic products, but I’ve settled into the GO Ultra as my second camera, which I attach to my jersey for a second point of view. It’s also a fantastic choice for regular life as you can use it as a tiny still/video travel camera when it’s docked. You can read my full Insta360 GO Ultra review for more info.
GoPro Mission 1 Pro – 14% off
The other camera I use to make videos is the Mission 1 Pro. As good as Insta360 and DJI are, nothing else currently competes with the quality of the Mission 1 Pro. This is a professional-level tool for anyone serious about the best quality content. You can read more in my full GoPro Mission 1 Pro review.
Garmin Venu X1 – 13% off
One of the best things about Garmin is the way that the ecosystem lets you move between devices seamlessly. I don’t have to wear a strap or a watch while I ride because I have a Garmin bike computer (not on sale for Prime Day). When I get off the bike and put on the watch, the data seamlessly switches so that’s all uninterrupted in Garmin Connect. That opens up a small need for something different in my watch, though. I want something that looks good and works as a smartwatch as much as a fitness watch. That’s where the Garmin Venu X1 fits in.
Bonus – DJI RS 4 Mini Combo – 33% off
I am throwing this one on the list because I’ll probably grab one myself while it’s on sale. I can’t really make this cycling-specific somehow, but if you want to know how I get the silky smooth B-roll of the bikes you see in the videos, I use the DJI RS 3 Mini. The 4 folds flat for travel, and the combo version tracks movement. I’ve had my eye on it for a while, so this might be my moment. I found another deal you took advantage of and I’m not including, drop it in the comments.
