Seth Dunwoody (Cannibal B Victorious) has put in a very impressive ride at Paris-Roubaix Juniors in France, joining the attacks off the front in the final 30km of the race and ending the day with a very strong result.

Fellow Irish junior, Patrick Casey (GRENKE-Auto Eder) also put in a very strong shift on the pavé sectors of northern France and was among just 74 survivors on a day when the number of riders who abandoned or finished outside the time limit was very significant.

Dunwoody was at the front mixing it with the top riders in the world – including world road race champion Albert Philipsen (Denmark) – deep into the final of the 116km race.

With about 30km to go, Dunwoody was on the attack off the front, among a group of riders trying to chase down the two leaders and a group just behind them.

At that point Jakob Omrzel (Slovenia) and Axel van der Broek (Acrog-Tormans) by 45 seconds from a chase group. That chasing group was comprised of Ashlin Barry (United States), Albert Philipsen (Denmark) Anton Louw Larsen (Denmark), Theodor Clemmensen (Team Grenke Auto Eder), Jasper Schoofs (Belgium ) and Erazem Valjavec (Slovenia).

Then a further 15 seconds back, with 29km of racing remainining, was the group of Dunwoody. He was with Paul Fietzke (Team Grenke Auto Eder), Hector Martinez (Spain), Senna Temijn (Acrog-Tormans ) and Simon Schwartz (Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale U19 Team).

The two first groups came together, to form a larger leading group, which then split again as six riders went forward.

In a sprint at the finish Omrzel beat his team mate Valjavec in the sprint for victory, with Van den Broek 3rd and Philipsen 4th, all on the same time. Then came Clemmensen in 4th at three seconds, with Schoofs in 6th at 11 seconds and Barry 7th at 33 seconds.

Dunwoody finished 12th at 2:32, having left behind several of the riders he was with in his chasing group. Casey was in 30th at 4:34.
