A lightweight but heavy-duty e-bike-specific repair stand with quick-release mechanisms and a high degree of portability.
It’s no secret that e-bikes can be heavy, with many weighing a reasonable 60-70 lbs. Others, especially stout-framed fat-tire e-bikes, can land at a hefty 80-90 lbs, and sometimes even more.
Most bike stands will struggle to accommodate such a burden, with small footprints, slim support members, and clamp mechanisms that seem to require an extra set of hands to operate. When dealing with huge and heavy bikes, most mechanics are likely to agree that the faster a bike can be put in a stand, the better.
The sturdily built Feedback Sports Pro Mechanic HD repair stand aims to solve the above problems by offering a remarkably high weight capacity, a fast and intuitive clamp system, and a high degree of adjustability—all in a lightweight and portable package.
The Pro Mechanic HD is made to hold bikes of all styles, with a maximum capacity of 100 lbs and jaws that open to fit tubes up to 2.6” in diameter. It features a sliding and ratcheting clamp that can be set and tightened in seconds and a swiveling clamp arm that allows users to balance and center a bike’s weight over one of its three reinforced tripod legs.
At 18 lbs, we found the Pro Mechanic HD to be surprisingly light for its size. The stand can be set up or collapsed in no time, and it’s compatible with a padded, water-resistant, and airplane-friendly travel bag with carry handles for easy transport.
If you can’t tell, we were highly impressed with the Feedback Sports Pro Mechanic HD repair stand. Whether you’re an experienced traveling or shop mechanic or a curious e-bike owner looking to learn how to perform maintenance at home, continue reading below to learn more about its setup, features, and operation!

Feedback Sports Pro Mechanic HD Repair Stand Review – Set Up
When folded, the Pro Mechanic HD repair stand is relatively compact at 5”x8”x45” but expands rapidly to its full height of 67”. The three rectangular anodized aluminum legs are locked in place by an oversized quick-release clamp. Once opened, they slide in place to create a large, stable triangular footprint measuring 50” on a side.
The Pro Mechanic HD’s rotating clamp head swings into place and secures with a spinning adjustment knob. Like its legs, the stand’s mast also features a quick-release clamp that allows its upper tube 24” of height adjustment—and the ability to swivel the clamp arm for perfect positioning.
I found the stand extremely quick and easy to set up and tear down. The oversized quick-release clamps were easy to open and close, their size provided a lot of leverage when compared to a twisting knob, and I appreciated that they were a familiar mechanism (since many seat tubes use similar clamps).
The aluminum clamp head was also intuitive and easy to set into place. I liked its sturdy feel and also appreciated that it could easily rotate and be set to any angle.
Feedback Sports Pro Mechanic HD Repair Stand Review – Operation
Getting a bike into the stand was just as easy as setting it up. Once the clamp head was set to the angle I wanted, I had only to lift the bike, align its seat or top tube into the clamp jaws, and close the clamp. The “Speed Ratchet” mechanism allowed the jaws to be slid nearly tight, then hand-tightened until the hold was secure.
For testing purposes, I tried out the 44-lb Ride1Up Roadster V3 and the 85-lb Freedaring. The Roadster was, as expected, much easier to lift and get into the stand, but the Pro Mechanic HD held the heavier fat bike effectively and remained stable throughout.
When I was finished, removing the bike from the clamp was even easier; the jaws sprung open upon pushing the large red plastic release button on the clamp head. The process of releasing the bike and setting it down took literally a few seconds, with most of the time spent struggling with the weight of the bike (I try not to lift fat bikes often for this reason) instead of the stand itself.
I couldn’t imagine the process being easier without a motorized lift (which is not a knock against the Pro Mechanic HD, as it would add significant cost). I’d likely prefer an aluminum release button to the stand’s current plastic piece for the sake of durability when traveling, but admittedly, the red plastic button seemed sturdy.
Feedback Sports Pro Mechanic HD Repair Stand Review – Features and Accessories
While the Pro Mechanic HD repair stand is relatively straightforward, it has a few integrated features we have not yet discussed and is also compatible with a selection of other accessories.
The back side of the clamp arm features an inset magnet to hold tools (provided that they are made from ferrous metal). The strip is relatively small, so it is likely best combined with a pocketed apron or side table.
Note that the Feedback Sports Tool Tray is not compatible with the bike stand due to the diameter of its aluminum tubing. Considering the stand’s portability, we wouldn’t mind seeing a collapsible travel tool tray of some kind, but the included magnet helps to offset the absence of a tray.
Additionally, the extension on top of the clamp head allows Feedback’s Pro Truing Stand to mount on top of the repair stand, but the accessory can just as easily rest on a workbench.
In addition to the aforementioned travel bag, Feedback offers a hanging Team Edition Tool Kit that is compatible with the Pro Mechanic HD stand, though longer straps are required and available for purchase separately.
Ultimately, we feel the Pro Mechanic HD repair stand is an excellent product for aspiring and experienced mechanics. As the only stand in Feedback’s product line specifically designed for e-bikes, we’re happy to report that it did its job effectively, exceeding our expectations for sturdiness, ease of use, and portability.
