Dillon Corkery (St Michel-Mavic-Auber 93) has gotten his ride in Tour de Bretagne Cycliste off to a very strong start, with the Irish rider squarely in the fight for the stage win today after 146km of racing into Plougonvelin.

The 25-year-old, who is back riding at Continental level this year with his new French team, took a season best result of 5th place in what was a very close finish.

And on the strength of his performance today in the sprint from a reduced bunch, Corkery should be in contention over the next six days to try and aim for a stage win.

On a lumpy finishing circuit today, over five laps, the field was trimmed back with fewer than 50 riders credited on the same time as winner, and new race leader, Tim Torn Teutenberg (Lidl-Trek Future Racing).

The young German rider was very impressive in the final kick to the line and adds his win today to the victories he has taken in recent weeks in U23 Paris-Roubaix and the Olympus Tour.

Today he saw off runner-up Liam Van Bylen (Lotto Dstny Development Team) and Liam Van Bylen (Lotto Dstny Development Team).

The race continues tomorrow with 206.2km stage from Milizac-Guipronvel to Pontivy, with five laps of a finishing circuit up and down a 2.5km climb at 4.7 per cent, which should split the field.
