A cyclist has been seriously injured in a crash with the driver of a bus on Dublin’s O’Connell St

A cyclist is in hospital undergoing treatment for serious injuries sustained in a crash with a driver in a bus on O’Connell St in Dublin’s city centre.

The collision occurred on last night, Friday, at the junction of O’Connell St and Abbey. Early indications suggest the driver of the coach was turning left onto Abbey St at the time.

The cyclist, a man in his late 20s, was seriously injured and was taken to hospital ambulance after being treated by paramedics at the scene.

The gardaí also sealed off the area as part of the investigation into the crash, which is being carried out from Store St Garda station, Dublin 1.

“Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a collision on O’Connell Street, Dublin 1, yesterday evening, Friday,” Garda HQ said of the crash.

“The collision occurred at approximately 10:30pm and involved a bicycle and a coach. The male cyclist, aged in his late 20s, was taken to the Mater Hospital to be treated for serious injuries.”
