Gardaí in Dublin are investigation and road traffic crash, involving the driver of a lorry, that has resulted in the death of a cyclist

A cyclist in her 20s has been killed in a crash involving a driver in a truck during Wednesday morning rush hour in south Dublin. While the injured woman was taken from the crash scene, in Dun Laoghaire, to hospital she was pronounced dead there.

Gardaí have begun an investigation into the fatal crash and have appealed for witness to come forward and aid the inquiry.

“Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a road traffic collision at the junction of the Glenageary Road Upper, Mountown Road Lower and Kill Avenue in Dun Laoghaire, Co, Dublin,” the Garda Depot said in a statement.

“The incident occurred at around 8am this morning, Wednesday 24th April 2024 when a truck collided with a bicycle. The cyclist, a woman in her 20s, was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital where she later passed away from her injuries.

“The road remains closed at this time and a technical examination of the scene by forensic collision investigators is taking place. Local diversions are in place.”

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to come forward, especially other road users who recording dashcam, or other video footage, in the area at the time.
