Fat tire e-bikes have gained a lot of popularity in recent years. The landscape is full of contenders hoping to entice buyers with unique looks and features. On Tuesday another aspiring challenger to be king of the fat bike mountain just entered the fray; say hello to the all-new Blix Ultra fat tire electric bike.
Blix CEO Pontus Malmberg spoke about the utility of the company’s latest e-bike saying, “the Ultra concept was to design an all-terrain e-bike that is practical enough to fit into your day, furthering our mission to integrate health and activity into everyday life. This is the most capable and versatile e-bike we’ve built, and it will bring a lot of value and differentiation to the table.”
The Blix Ultra has an MSRP of $1,999 and has notable features we’ve appreciated on previous Blix e-bikes we’ve reviewed while keeping things fresh by debuting all-new features too. The Ultra comes in three colors (Slate Gray, Sage Green, and White), offers an upgraded dual battery option, and more accessory combinations than you can shake a stick at. The new additions found on Blix’s latest e-bike include a simple but sleek-looking display and the Bluetooth Blix Connect app that boasts over-the-air firmware updates and enhanced ride data.
Blix Ultra Review: Specs and Features
The spec sheet of the Blix Ultra includes a lot of what we’d hope to see from a fat tire e-bike at this price point. It’s built around a 750W rear hub motor with 90Nm torque and 672 Wh battery (or double that with the 1,344 Wh dual battery option for another $400), large 26″x4” knobby fat tires for handling most any terrain, 8-speed shifting, and hydraulic disc brakes for optimal stopping.
Blix includes a few other niceties on the Ultra as well such as the front suspension with 80mm of travel, and an 80 LUX front light for enhanced visibility.
Additional accessories such as fenders, a heavy-duty 150 lbs capacity rear-rack, child seat, footpegs and more are available options as well for tailoring the bike to your needs.
The new Blix Connect app seems interesting for all the goals it sets out to accomplish. Blix says it will include route navigation, a community feed, over-the-air firmware updates, support access, detailed ride data, and the ability to toggle between class 2 & class 3 settings.
The new app follows a growing trend we’re seeing from other manufacturers that have also emphasized software updates, custom rider profiles, and community integration.

Blix Ultra Review: EBR’s First Glance Verdict
We’ll soon be able to have a hands-on review of the Blix Ultra, but what we’ve seen so far has the Electric Bike Report staff intrigued. Everything from the frame to the colors, and the dual battery option to the numerous mounting points for accessories help this bike visually stand out from an ever-growing pack of fattys.
The frame in particular is unique since not many fat tire e-bikes we’ve tested seemed built with a “mini VIP” section in mind. Sure others have rear racks that can support a child seat, but we haven’t seen many boast a 150 lbs carrying capicity that’s inviting for slightly older kids.
That’s why one of the more striking aspects of looks of this bike are the elongated seat stay and chain. It’s left ample space for hauling a little one behind you, and we’re eager to see what the design choice means for the handling and weight distribution.
One thing on our wish list for most of the DTC e-bike manufacturers is more customization options, and with the colorways, optional dual batteries and other accessories, Blix is certainly allowing you a made-to-order experience.
