Modern Adventure Pro Cycling is preparing for the 2027 season after a breakout 2026 debut. The team announced three new signings that will expand its roster from 21 to 24 riders, a 16% increase aimed at building on last year’s success. WorldTour veteran Jonas Rutsch joins after seven years at the top level and two top-11 finishes at Paris-Roubaix. Reigning Australian champion Patrick Eddy comes off a strong domestic season, having outfoxed WorldTour riders at Aussie nationals and dominated the Continental circuit with Team Brennan. Young American talent Owen Cole, 22, from California, won the U.S. Under-23 road race at 19 and finished top-six in both the national road race and time trial this year; he previously developed in the UAE Emirates-XRG system and with Team Winston Salem-Flow.
The roster moves arrive amid fading speculation about U.S. national champion Quinn Simmons, who has been repeatedly linked to the project. However, with Simmons under a long-term deal with Lidl-Trek, a move to Modern Adventure is now considered highly unlikely, and the rumor mill has quieted in recent weeks. As of late October, no riders have confirmed departing the team, keeping its debut core intact.
The expansion underscores clear ambition. In 2026, Modern Adventure secured five race wins, raced across multiple continents, and earned a marquee invitation to Paris-Roubaix. With new co-title sponsor Factor Bikes providing increased financial backing, founder George Hincapie aims to push the program toward Tour de France contention. Hincapie framed the vision plainly: “I wanna look back in five, six years from now and go, ‘this is where we started,’” adding, “From basically ‘Bad News Bears’ to building to be one of the best teams in the world.”
The signings also reflect the team’s mission of fielding a majority-American roster. Cole becomes the 13th American among the 24 riders for 2027, maintaining roughly 54% U.S. representation. Hincapie emphasized that supporting young domestic talent remains a cornerstone, stating he’s excited to help Cole “reach the highest level of the sport.”
Overall, Modern Adventure is shifting from a debut campaign to a more ambitious phase, blending experienced internationals with homegrown American prospects as it seeks to establish itself among the sport’s elite.
