Specialized has entered the high-torque eMTB arena with its newly launched 3.1 motor, offering up to 111Nm of torque and 720 watts of power in its flagship model, the 2025 Specialized Turbo Levo Gen 4. This positions Specialized as a direct competitor to DJI’s Avinox motor, which boasts 120Nm of torque and 1000 watts of power. The Gen 4 Levo aims to blend this increased power with a natural riding experience, maintaining the fun and accessibility that eMTBs are known for.

The 2025 Turbo Levo Gen 4 comes in four models, with prices starting at $7,999 for the Comp version and going up to $13,499 for the S-Works edition. Notably, Specialized has reduced the price of the S-Works model by $1,500 compared to earlier expectations, making it a more attractive option for high-end buyers. Motor & Battery Improvements

The new motor delivers 101Nm of torque on the Comp, Expert, and Pro models, and an impressive 111Nm of torque on the S-Works edition. The power output has also been increased to 720 watts, staying within the 750-watt limit allowed on single-track trails in the U.S., unlike DJI’s higher-output systems.

The bike is equipped with an 840Wh battery that supports fast charging, reaching 80% charge in under an hour with a 5A, 200W charger. For even faster charging, a 12A charger is available, which is a rare feature in the eMTB market. The bike features GRID GRAVITY casing tires with GRIPTON® T9 compound, though the initial models ship with 2.3” tires instead of the preferred 2.4” or 2.5” options. Riders in rocky terrain may want to upgrade the tires for better performance.

Another notable feature is the SWAT downtube storage, which allows riders to store a spare tube and small electric pump. While this required a slightly larger downtube, the convenience of not needing a backpack in hot weather makes it a worthwhile trade-off.
