Ireland’s top-ranked A1 cyclist for the last two years, Daire Feeley, has decided to depart from Irish Continental team EvoPro Racing and is set to resume competing at home with All human-VeloRevolution.
Stickybottle understands Feeley’s departure from EvoPro has taken place in very amicable circumstances and he remains on very good terms with everyone in that team.
The Roscommon rider is mixing working with his racing this year and has decided to step away from the European pro scene in favour of racing in Ireland.
That means he has relinquished his A+ licence and is now an A1 again. He is also officially no longer an EvoPro Racing rider and will line out this weekend for All human-VeloRevolution at Kerry Group Rás Mumhan.
Riders holding A+ licences are not permitted to ride Rás Mumhan this weekend and Feeley’s appearance in the race – where he goes in as a big favourite – is only possible because he has returned to the A1 ranks.
It is understood a statement from EvoPro Racing is imminent in relation to Feeley’s departure. It was his second stint at the team as he had competed for Morgan Fox’s and PJ Nolan’s squad in 2019 before coming back to the domestic scene for 2020 and last year.
He raced with Aidan Crowley’s All human-VeloRevolution team both last year and in 2020 and enjoyed a series of wins. Last year he was Ireland’s top ranked A1 rider, won the Cycling Ireland National Road Series and was also 2nd in the men’s road race at the National Championships, behind WorldTour rider Ryan Mullen.
