Light, Nimble Touring Trailer, Holds up to 100 lbs of Cargo
The Burley Nomad bike trailer is perfect for the touring cyclist who needs to carry cargo. This 16 lbs trailer offers 2.4 square feet of open space so can pack just about anything you want to bring with you, and also includes a rain cover. We tested out the Nomad to help you decide if it’s the right trailer for you – read all about it in this Burley Nomad trailer review!
We were pleased to note that the Nomad’s hitch attached quickly and easily to our test bike using the axle nut, allowing us to hit the road in no time. The solidly built aluminum chassis remained stable during all of our rides, giving us the confidence that we could tow safely for many miles.
- Lots of open space for carrying cargo of varied shapes and sizes; along with mesh pockets for carrying smaller items.
- Folds neatly to compact size, great for transport and storage.
- Trailer remains upright, even when the bike is laying sideways, thanks to the Flex Connector.
- Storing is convenient when not in use, folding to compact size for easily fitting in car trunk, or rear SUV compartment.
- Keeping your cargo dry, the water resistant cover also seals tightly, protecting against wind and other elements.
- Super stable, the Nomad is almost unnoticeable as it rolls behind your bike.
- Would ride better when fully packed using 20” tires instead of 16”.
The 22-inch width of the trailer made it feel comfortably in my lane as I pedaled around the bike path. Lightweight and easy to maneuver, the smooth-rolling 16” road tires can be swapped for all-terrain tires. Carrying almost 60 lbs of cargo, I hardly noticed the weight while pedaling on my e-bike. Turns were easy and I didn’t have to worry about bumping into corners.
I had an easy time using the gear clips to tighten down the water-resistant cover over my gear. During some wind gusts I looked back and could tell the cover wasn’t going anywhere. This increased my confidence in this trailer’s ability to keep my stuff safe, dry and clean.
Additionally, worthwhile optional accessories you can get include: the 16+ Wheel Kit for riding and towing on snow, sand and gravel; the Walking & Hiking Kit that allows you to pull using the waist-mounted harness; the Ski Kit which allows you to tow while snow skiing; and the Trailer Storage Bag for is for keeping the trailer clean and protected when not in use.
The stable rides were a good indicator of how solid this trailer is built. After riding the trailer over countless potholes, bumps, and rocky roads, the frame remained solid, and I didn’t have to re-tighten anything. I was very satisfied with the overall performance and quality of this trailer. This trailer earned its place on our short list of “Best Bike Trailers.”
Priced below $350, we think the Burley Nomad gives you a lot of value for your money with its lightweight and functional design, its easy maneuverability, and its impressive 3-year warranty.
