The Pimp Five-In-One Phone Mount Review 2024The Pimp Five-In-One Phone Mount Review 2024

The reasons to mount a smartphone holder on your e-bike seem to grow by the day. From serving up navigation info and real-time data functions such as current speed and miles ridden, there are a growing number of apps that can turn a smartphone into a better display than the one that comes with your e-bike. And increasingly, e-bike manufacturers are launching their own apps that can provide real-time directions, connect brand owners and even offer security features including GPS tracking. So that answers the why. The what, in this instance, is the Pimp My Bike Phone Holder, which is unlike any other smartphone holder we’ve seen. In our review of the Pimp My Bike Phone holder we will look at its many functions as well as its overall sense of value.

With the smartphone mounts we’ve seen up until now, they generally only serve to hold the smartphone so that it can be viewed while riding. A few manufacturer-included ones offer the added benefit of a charging plug, but most of those provide a single amp, roughly equivalent to a standard iPhone charger.

The speaker has decent sound, but blasting the horn at yourself isn’t great.

Pros
  • Secure holder for smartphones as wide as 7-in.
  • Bluetooth speaker for directions, music or other listening
  • 2 LED lights for 50m visibility
  • 1500mAh (18.5Wh) power bank to power speaker and lights as well as charge smartphone
  • Speaker also works as horn, with handlebar-mounted button
  • ⅛-in. headphone jack for earbuds
  • SD card reader
Cons
  • Horn uses the speaker, which is pointed at the rider

The Pimp MY Bike Phone Holder does more than just hold your phone. It provides a wireless (Bluetooth) speaker, power bank, front light and electronic horn.

The phone holder is adjustable enough to hold smartphones as large as 7 in. wide, great news for iPhone Max owners. The 5W Bluetooth speaker can be used to hear directions provided by the phone or listen to entertainment such as music or a podcast. Two LED lights are said to illuminate the road up to 50 meters in front of the rider. The power bank (battery) powers the speaker, lights and can charge the smartphone. It has a capacity of 5000mAh (18.5Wh); to put this in perspective, an iPhone 15 comes with a 3367mAh battery. Finally, the speaker can be used as an electronic horn to alert others to your presence.

We’ve yet to see another phone holder that offers so many functions in addition to simply holding a smartphone so that it can be viewed while riding. A simple phone holder that does nothing else can run from just a few bucks to more than $50; your smartphone’s level of security may be reflected in the price, of course.

Included with the phone holder is a handlebar-mounted button for the horn to make it easy to reach, but a word of warning to shoppers: The holder uses its speaker for the horn, which means the sound will be directed at the rider, not ahead of the rider.

One challenge some riders may face is finding the optimal angle for the phone holder so that the screen can be seen while also pointing the light at an angle so that it illuminates the road or path ahead of the rider.

Arguably, the best feature of the Pimp My Bike phone holder is that it combines so many different functions in a single item that attaches to the handlebar. There are products that provide each of these functions, but most bars lack the room to clamp so many individual accessories on. For less than $150, a rider can enjoy all of these functions with just one clamp.
