Ireland’s Seth Dunwoody on the podium at his first race of the season, Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne Juniors in Belgium

Seth Dunwoody (Cannibal B Victorious) has enjoyed a very strong start to his 2024 campaign in Belgium, where today he took a podium place in Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne Juniors.

The Irish junior champion hit the front in the sprint, and looked for a time like he may just take the victory, only to be pipped on the line from one of his rivals in the small front group.

The win today, in the 122.5km, went to Belgian rider Aldo Taillieu, a dual road and MTB racer riding for Air College-B Concept. Slovenian Erazem Valjavec (Autozai-Contri) placed 3rd.

Dunwoody, who was 11th in this race last season, was among a seven-rider front group sprinting for victory. They were some 1:20 up on a 55-rider group sprinting for 8th place.

Irish rider Joseph Mullen, on debut for Zapping Racing Team, did well to finish in that group, with the Meath teenager placing 47th. Fellow Irish riders Tom Kinsella and Conor Prendergast, both Van Mossel Heist Cycling Team, were among the non-finishers today.
